A Call to Honor
Friday, May 28, 2010, 7:00 a.m.

As you all know, this coming Monday, May 31, 2010, is Memorial Day.

I would like to share with you information about a special non-partisan event that I would commend to your consideration.

The Hampton National Cemetery, just off of Woodland Road and I-64 in Hampton, Virginia is the final resting place for more than 27,000 Americans. Its oldest internments are Civil War, Union and Confederate Soldiers, and the newest are from the present day.

In preparation for Memorial Day, at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010, Scouts and active duty military, civilians, friends, adults and children, patriots all, will gather to place at every headstone Old Glory- the American Flag. It is very fulfilling work and, with many willing and grateful hands, the work goes quickly, in less than 2 hours. Participants may stay for as little or as long as desired.

If you are able to participate, simply come. Sturdy shoes and a pair of gloves and sun cover are all that you will need. The flags are furnished. Those who rest in eternal glory await our remembering touch, the patter of our feet, and warmth of the American Spirit that once was, and now eternally abides their peaceful journey passing on.

Thanks in advance for your support and prayers of those who have borne the battle.

Sincerely yours,

Chuck Smith
